Sangenís I Vaqué Lo Coster Blanc
Priorat, Spain 2023

A rare white gem from the heart of Priorat
This Lo Coster Blanc 2023 from Sangenís i Vaqué is a sublime choice. This outstanding white wine is crafted from 85% Garnacha Blanca and 15% Macabeo, harvested from over 40-year-old vines growing on the steep slate slopes surrounding the village of Porrera – at the very heart of Priorat’s unique llicorella soil. The wine is fermented and aged for four months in new French oak barrels, adding rare depth and complexity. Production is highly limited – only 3,157 bottles were made of the 2023 vintage – making each bottle a unique experience in itself.

Tasting Notes – Lo Coster Blanc 2023
Lo Coster Blanc is a complex and spicy white wine, full of character and finesse. The nose reveals notes of white flowers, citrus, toasted oak, and a hint of herbs. On the palate, the wine offers a lovely richness and texture from the oak aging, beautifully balanced by a fresh, lively acidity that keeps the expression pure and vibrant. A wine with great personality and a long finish.
Perfect for dishes with structure and depth – try it with grilled fish, poultry, creamy pasta dishes, or dishes featuring mushrooms and herbs. It has both the power and freshness to pair well with even the most complex meals.

Who is Sangenís I Vaqué? – Passion, tradition, and terroir since 1886
Sangenís i Vaqué is a family-owned winery with deep roots in Priorat’s history. It all began in 1978 when Pere Sangenís and Conxita Vaqué replanted the family’s old vineyards in Porrera. However, the winemaking tradition goes all the way back to 1886, when Conxita’s grandfather, Josep Simó, ran a winery and cellar on Plaça Catalunya – the same location where the wines are still produced today. Today, the next generation, daughters Maria and Núria, continue the legacy alongside their father. The production remains small, craftsmanship is paramount, and each wine is an honest expression of nature, heritage, and a deep love for winemaking.
All vineyards lie within the boundaries of Porrera and are cultivated with respect for both nature and tradition. This makes Sangenís i Vaqué one of the most authentic and passionate producers in Priorat.
